about this project

Royal Parade, Chislehurst

The conversion of the old timber frame structure into a habitable space involved adapting the existing timber floor above a retail shop. To make the residential floor structurally sound, timber strengthening, and new joinery were employed, with a focus on minimising the use of steel.

The project utilised timber A-frames to achieve the required structural support. This approach not only preserved the character of the original timber frame but also showcased an efficient use of materials, blending functionality with the historical elements of the structure.
